The Weir Garden (National Trust) is perched in an enchanted place overlooking the River Wye. Created in the late 18th century Humphrey Repton was involved with both the design of the woodland garden and the walled garden. Various trails take you along the woodland garden with the River Wye in view most of the time.

Fabulous place for a stroll by the river and picnic. Jul 2022. The Weir Garden is managed by the National Trust, we only found the Weir Garden after joining the Trust. It's a really beautiful terraced garden on the banks of the river Wye. Great place to spend a lazy sunny afternoon and picnic.

Jul 2023 • Couples. A garden of two parts. A lovely walk through woodland down to the river Wye- go anti clockwise, it's gentler! The walled garden is in the opposite direction but only a few yards away. This is a potentially lovely garden but suffering from the lack of water and patchy planting.

The Smyths. The first records of The Weir Garden date back to 1673, where Thomas Symth is recorded to have owned the estate in the 'Alphabetical Account of the Nobility and Gentry of England'. The Symth line continued to live here until 1765 when the current Richard Symth died with no son, making his daughter, Elizabeth heir to the estate.

Hereford. View location. The history of The Weir Garden dates to Roman times; however, the garden visitors see today is predominantly a 1920s vision, inspired and created by Roger Parr. Parr was responsible for many of the features in the garden including the retaining wall, the rustic hut and boathouse, which is rare survival from this era.
